ISRC · British American University, Florida, USA
Welcome to the Prof. Kenneth Rabac International Solar Research Center (ISRC).
Established in 2018, the British American University, Florida, created the Prof. Kenneth Rabac Solar Research Center (ISRC) in 2021 that runs a Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Energy Systems Engineering and other related specializations to meet the needs of this high-growth field. Through the programs, students can participate in a range of renewable energy courses including solar thermal engineering, gas turbine combustion, general thermodynamics, combustion, and air pollution. The Ken Rabac International Solar Research Center programs foster skills that bring together engineering, financing, and environmental analysis. The programs are flexible, offering full- and part-time schedules and both on-site and online formats. A specialized program is also available for students without engineering backgrounds.
Some of the specialized facilities at the ISRC include a computerized solar collector test rig with an attached meteorological station, and classification of wood. There is also a photo-type-photo-voltaic system for light energy. Projects supported by the Center typically have been executed so far in collaboration with staff of mechanical engineering, agricultural engineering, and physics, statistics, economics and sociology departments of the University. The Center welcomes project proposals by interested individuals and corporate bodies of all disciplines.
Our students can also opt to pursue the professional Master of Engineering (M. Engr.) and Doctor of Engineering (D.Engr.) programs in Energy Systems Engineering, Master of Solar Engineering (MSE) and Doctor of Solar Engineering (DSE).
This recently approved program is the first in the nation to cater specifically for Solar Engineering Industrial leaders who want to design and implement Solar Energy Systems to meet environmental and energy challenges of the industries and society at large. This specialization is focused on engineering, science, and the development of policies. Entering as novices in Solar System Engineering, students will come out from the program not only with the ability to design systems as engineers, they will also be able to communicate effectively to promote the use of sustainable technologies and encourage policies that support renewable energy in various industries and the society!
