About the Center

Several attempts have been made in many countries to improve the Healthcare Services Delivery System through the means of Traditional, Alternative and Complementary Medicine (TACM). Combining naturopathy, acupuncture, cupping therapy and herbal medicine to help you manage pain, restore balance and improve your long-term wellbeing. Normally, TACM involves personalized treatment plans, home and office visits, safe natural therapies, and licensed healthcare practitioner.

It is however recommended that TACM is in addition to the orthodox medicine in many countries. The aforementioned attempts had culminated in the introduction of the Health Reform Agenda which is backed by Law particularly in American, African, Asian and some other countries. The main aim of the reform agenda is to improve the quality of healthcare delivery through the promotion of Traditional, Alternative and Complementary Medicine (ACM) in the affected nations. A vital component of this process is the regulation of the private sector, a major provider of healthcare services through the ACM to the majority of the population. The HEFAMAA was established in March 2006 in Lagos State and is charged with the responsibility of monitoring both private and public health facilities to ensure registration and in the near future, accreditation of all health facilities in the State whether the orthodox or ACM. With the recent launch of the Lagos State Health Scheme, HEFAMAA has been given the responsibility of providing facilities that will be provided to the scheme by Lagos State Health Management Agency using some strict eligibility criteria. The major functions of Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency include:
