Welcome to the Food and Nutrition Research Center (FNRC) at the British American University, Florida, USA. The Center conducts research in nearly all aspects of Food to improve the nutritional health of the society. The topics of Food science, Internal medicine, Endocrinology, Environmental health and Obesity are the focal point of focus in the BAU Food and Nutrition Research Center. The Center researches into Food science, which can be linked to other research areas like Nutrient, Antioxidant and Animal Science; the Nutrient study featured in it draws connections with the study of Micronutrient.
The concepts on Internal medicine presented analyzed in the Center can also apply to other research fields, including Gastroenterology, Placebo and Diabetes mellitus, Type 2 diabetes. Insulin, Insulin resistance, Adipose tissue, metabolic syndrome and Oxidative stress are Endocrinology topics of special interest in to us here. Topics in Environmental health were tackled in line with various other fields like Gerontology and Public health as core area of the Food and Nutrition Research. We are also concerned with obesity research with overweight in particular. Nutrition and Food Research is part of the general Medicine combining multidisciplinary nutrition, food and health research.
Our mission in the Center is to excel in researching the complex interplay between food, human metabolism and health, and to disseminate and apply the knowledge accrued on well-being of people and nature. The BAU Food and Nutrition Center is a unique combination of nutrition and food science expertise as part of medical sciences. Even internationally, there are only few such Centers enabling close dialogue and collaboration between food, health and medical sciences. Our center possesses clinical research facilities, sensory laboratory and coordinates Research Platform enabling in depth studies on complex relationship of nutrition and healthy, sustainable food choices.
The mission of the BAU Food and Nutrition is to excel in researching the complex interplay between food, human metabolism and health, and to disseminate and apply the knowledge accrued on well-being of people and nature. We are at the forefront in international, multidisciplinary food and nutrition research which we conduct with experts from different scientific disciplines. We promote human health over generations. We also specialize in executing research projects that explore the characteristics of food, its interactions within the human body, as well as the aspects of food-related experiences and behaviors. We are interested especially in sustainable food choices, dietary intake, gut microbiota and subsequent metabolic and clinical health impacts throughout the human lifecycle.
Also, we develop and apply methods for research and assessment of dietary intake, food behavior and human nutritional status and metabolism. We actively collaborate with national and international actors from different scientific fields who share our mission. We develop and coordinate our research platform which consists of a research restaurant, a cafeteria and a multisensory space. We provide evidence-based education and training for various groups, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, and enable continuous learning, and above all, we apply research findings for the benefit of people, communities and industry.
Our values are creativity, openness, ethical principles, critical thinking, and strong community. One of the objectives of the Nutrition and Food Research Center is to enable food industry innovations. We combine our expertise, for example, of individual nutrition and multi-sensory perception with our wide national and international network. Our goal is to utilize our multidisciplinary research knowledge to advance business development both in national and international research and development projects. As a result, we advance collaboration between food chain companies and researchers, we support the creation and testing of new business ideas, and we advance the sustainable development and profiling of the regional innovative food chain. We are a wanted and experienced research and innovation partners both at national and international level.
