CWSGR · British American University, Florida, USA
Welcome to the Prof. Mirjana Radovic-Markovic Center for Women and Gender Studies.
Prof. Mirjana Radovic-Markovic Center for Women Studies and Gender Relations (CWSGR) was established in March 2020, to contribute towards attitudinal and social transformation through the promotion of women empowerment and gender studies; that is, equality and equity. The Center was first housed under the Women Education and Gender Studies Complex in Belgrade, Europe, from where it spread to other countries in four continents of Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. The CWSGR aligns with the long time strategic priorities, intellectual direction, and transformative imperatives of the British American University, Florida.
Through rigorous and critical analysis of the role of economic, religious, and political institutions in legitimizing and institutionalizing gender, sex, and sexuality disparities, the CWSGR, as an integral organ of BAU’s research efforts, seeks to mainstream gender across the sector through teaching and learning, research, and collaborative engagements. This mission of the Center is informed by the vision of the university to be a dynamic; American University formed and developed for the cutting-edge knowledge, skills acquisition and development towards a sustainable future. The CWSGR at the British American University was designed and focused to approach gender mainstreaming through the American intellectual heritage rooted particularly in the North American region consisting of the USA, Canada, Jamaica, Barbados and the rest of the Caribbean countries from where we approach the rest of the international communities.
